Energy Ireland, in association with the Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (IIPMM), is running a one day seminar looking at the practical aspects of energy purchasing and management. The objective of the seminar is to give those involved in buying and managing energy an idea of where energy prices are going and what they can do reduce their energy bills.
Energy Ireland has assembled an expert panel who will examine key issues such as:
- Drivers and effects of high oil prices
- Impact of economic downturn on energy markets
- Oil and gas price outlook for 2010
- Regulatory and political energy price influences
- Electricity and market outlook
- The regulatory framework for energy prices
- Guidelines on purchasing energy efficiently.
Mitigating the effects of higher prices
Following the morning sessions at the seminar, which focus on energy prices and purchasing, the afternoon will be dedicated to looking at ways of offsetting higher energy prices across business and industry. The seminar will be addressed by both local and visiting speakers who all have guidance to offer and advice to share on managing energy more efficiently. This will include a number of case studies of best practice energy management in both the industrial and commercial context.
