The International Energy Agency has emphasised that nothing short of an “energy technology revolution” will be needed if the significant reductions in CO2 emissions are to be met. In order to achieve the 50% reduction of global CO2 emissions, the IEA estimates that nearly 50% of global electricity supplies will have to come from renewable energy sources.

This 2009 Renewable Energy Summit will be a followup to the previous highly successful events which were attended by over 200 key decision-makers from across the Irish energy sector and included all those with an interest in the development of renewable energy in Ireland.

The Renewable Energy Summit is designed to focus on the major issues surrounding the enormous benefit Ireland can derive by optimising development of its renewable resources. Its objective is to stimulate actions aimed at increasing the contribution that renewable energy can make. To this end a top quality speaker line-up, including experts from within Ireland and further afield has been assembled.
